Well another endurance year is done and dusted!!
I have been a little slow on the updates of late due to moving properties (yes again) and sadly towards the end of the endurance season Jack hasn't been 100% and was given a few months off. He is slowly being bought back into work now but unfortunately it is a wait and see as to if his endurance career can continue. Needless to say I was shattered - I had so many dreams where it was Jack I wanted to achieve them with but I am still hoping that we will get to achieve those together, only time will tell at the moment. Jack has been my partner for the last 8 years of competing and I have everything crossed that he can continue but if not he will get to retire gracefully as his health is what matters to me most, and finish on a near perfect record and he can be partner to my two young horses and teach them the ropes. Stay tuned to see what happens.
On a brighter note though Jack was in the top ten middleweght points horse in Victoria for 2011 and 2nd middleweight horse in points and distance for the Gippsland Endurance Zone competition - both these achievevments were with missing his last three rides for the year - so I am very proud of my golden boy - he is a legend in my eyes!
On to Fanta now.... a bit of bad luck came her way and after whacking her hoofwall on a cast iron trough full of water she was incredibly lame and following x-rays it was obvious she suffered some severe damage to her hoof wall. So unfortunately she has to wait until she grows a new hoof with proper connection and support back down - but luckily since she has her own personal live-in trimmer with regular care and attention her hoof is growing at great guns and we predict she wont be out for nearly as long as the ten months predicted but it means news on her for the first half of 2012 will be limited but check back later in the year for updates!
You may have also noticed we have a new addition as well - you can read about him here - http://www.bootedendurance.com/medicinelover2012.htm
On my home page you will notice that we have been lucky enough to have a new sponsor in Imperial Horse Floats... http://www.imperialfloats.com.au/
Imperial has delivered a stunning float with all the luxuries I could hope for. This is my second Imperial Float and I am absolutely wrapped with it!
