ZINTAHN FANTASIA - 2008 - ARCHIVES
Follow Fantas progress through the years with
updates of her per
sonality and training from weanling to my next endurance partner!
Fanta was born on the 5th of November and was delivered as a strong healthy outgoing filly. She had her first leading lessons within her first week and handled them like a pro. By 6 weeks old has had her feet trimmed and been on a float trip with her mum which her breeder Lisa (Zintahn Pinto Stud) was more than impressed with her easygoing nature!
December 2008
In the month of December Fanta and have had a few outings - One was a trimming clinic we hosted in Southern Tasmania for Andrew and Nicki Bowe http://www.barehoofcare.com/ on Sunday 7th December.
The trimming clinic was fully booked early and was really well received by all participants. This clinic is a maintenance trimming clinic. NOT a clinic that off you go and start trimming professionally after one day and that is explained fully in the course introduction!
This is for you to learn to recognised a healthy hoof and help maintain it. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to learn more about their horses hooves even if they dont want to trim - there is no harm in learning to recognise a good hoof! We covered trimming, basic hoof anatomy, treating seedy toe and thrush, using hoofboots and much much more.
It was a big day for Fanta going to a new place into strange smelling dark stables and having to wait there paitently for a few hours before we started to trim.. It took her a little while to relax but she did and settled very well. She was a bit restless to trim after standing still for half a day beforehand, which is a big ask for a baby and i was very pleased with how she handled the day!!
A few pics from the clinic I have so far.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FANTA - ONE YEAR OLD TODAY!
Fanta at 1 day old to now
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL!
22 September 2008
Fanta is now 10.5 months old and this weekend she went on a float trip with Jacky out to their Carlos lessons.
She walked on very nicely and when we got home she backed off on her own for the first time with me waiting at the ramp instead of at her head - what a little smarty pants - she is really growing up!!
The lesson with Carlos was as usual a really motivating lesson. Helping to keep me on track when I start to slide back into some old bad habits.
This lesson we worked on the rope wrapped around her girth area and flanks, the start of lessons to tie up, yielding, sidepassing, more leading, start of circle work (at walk only), having the rope thrown over her head and the stock whip being cracked around her again. Next lesson I think I would also like to start work on some more 'scary' type items for desensitising her :)
Here are a few snaps of the day!

10 August 2008
Fanta had another first this weekend - her first clip job!! To be honest i did chicken out of doing it myself and had a friend take over. Overall fanta was wonderfully behaved for her first body clip and I was so pleased with her - so here she is!
27 July 2008
Fanta had her second woolly show today. It was held by SAT (with recycled ribbons) and even though we weren't quite as calm and collected as the previous show she came home with 2 firsts, 2 seconds and Reserve Champion. I cant wait for summer when I can actually bath her!! I am learning alot before the show season starts and hopefully will have most things down pat by then.
Once again for a few pics to mark the occasion.

13 July 2008
Fanta had her first show today. It was only a winter woolly show held by TCAG (with recycled ribbons) and i was really pleased with how she went!! There were a reasonable amount of horses being ridden and trotted out around her and horses being taken away at trot and back again etc.... and she took it all in her stride :).....She came home with 5 firsts amongst other placings and Reserve Champion. We have a few more woolly shows over the winter months to help her get use to being out and about and pefect our workouts a little more and i am sure she will just get better and better as we go :)
Below are a few snapshots of the day

29 June 2008
Fanta had her first outing with alot of horses, being yarded on her own and handling a clinic situation today. She had horses all around her doing various things and to say I was happy with how she behaved is an understatement - I was wrapped!
We attended a Carlos Tabernaberri young horse handling afternoon. This is the second clinic with Carlos I have attended - I also did a ridden clinic earlier this year and to see him handle horses is truly inspiring and I really do love his methods - this man has more patience and skill in his little finger than i can hope to have in a lifetime - but I will keep trying.
Fanta was the youngest one there. We worked on leading, yielding and desensitising. Fanta to my amazement stood beautifully when the stock whip was being cracked around the horses in the desensitising session. After one look at the obstacles she would happily walk over all of them, tarps, poles, cones, stopping part way across them and waiting to go again and standing under umbrellas!! For a baby i was so happy :).
I would love to take credit for her but it has to go to Lisa at Zintahn Pinto stud as she is the one who has raised her :)
Below you will see some pics from the clinic including one of fanta ground tieing on the tarp, stock whip on her and just having been cracked as well and she was more than comfortable. Carlos instils so much confidence in the horses and i recommend anyone wanting to learn and develop their skills to attend one of his clinics.

May 19 - UPDATE
Well fanta has been here a little over two weeks now and has settled in really well. She has a HUGE personality and is so much fun to be around. The handling put into her by her breeder really pays off and she is a pleasure to be around. She is incredibly playful and finds numerous ways to entertain herself. Hopefully we will attend a few shows later this year when we have gotten to know each other.
Here are a few snapshots of her first weekend in with her big bossy brothers! But I have no doubt they wont be the boss for long!
Copy-cat play time
I am just a baby - cuddle me!
MAY 2008 - THE GRAND ARRIVAL
FANTA IS HERE - I travelled up to Zintahn Pinto Stud on Thursday and Lisa and I floated her back home on Friday. What a GEM. She loaded perfectly each time with several rest stops along the way. Ate, drank and was a pleasure to travel. You would think she had been doing it her whole life!
Not only have I purchased a wonderful foal i have also made a lifelong friend in her breeder Lisa and thank her from the bottom of my heart in giving me the oppertunity for this filly to be part of my family.
Anyway a few pics to mark the journey.
Rest stop and leg stretch number two in Campbell Town

MARCH O8 UPDATE
Lisa at Zintahn Pintos has designed a wonderful Fanta page on her website - take a look at http://www.freewebs.com/zintahn/fanta.htm
Fanta is down in around 4 weeks!! Getting very close now!!
Well Fanta is now 4 months old and in another couple of months will be on her way down - I cant wait!! She had a rug on to check for sizing (with help from her horsey family) and surprised me with a new trick!! I am heading up to see her in two weeks and that will be my last visit till she arrives!

29/12/07
Today I went up north to visit Fanta. She is nearly 8 weeks old and I had not seen her since she was nine days old! BOY has she grown! Lisa had me lead her out and pick up her feet to show me how much she has learnt and Lisa also did some yielding with her and I was very impressed!
Below are a couple of pictures of her today leading and feet handling and taking it all in her stride!
